What should I eat first after teeth cleaning?

After routine cleaning, you can usually eat your normal meal. If your mouth feels sensitive, start with softer foods such as khichdi, curd, eggs, soft rice or dal. If local anaesthetic was used, wait until numbness has worn off before chewing.

How long after teeth cleaning can I eat?

After a routine cleaning without local anaesthetic or a special topical treatment, you can generally eat when comfortable. If your mouth is numb, wait until sensation returns. If fluoride varnish was applied, follow the specific instructions given for that product.

Can I eat rice after teeth cleaning?

Yes. Rice is generally fine after routine cleaning. After deep cleaning, soft, well cooked rice or khichdi can be particularly comfortable because it requires less chewing and is less likely to irritate tender gums.

Can I eat chicken after deep cleaning?

Yes, if chewing feels comfortable. Choose tender, shredded or finely cut chicken rather than very crispy or heavily spiced preparations while your gums are sensitive.

Can I eat ice cream after teeth cleaning?

Usually, yes in moderation. However, teeth may be temporarily sensitive to cold after deep cleaning, so ice cream can cause discomfort in some people. Curd or yogurt may feel more comfortable if cold sensitivity is present.

Can I drink tea or coffee after teeth cleaning?

Usually, yes after routine cleaning. Let hot drinks cool if your teeth feel sensitive, and do not drink very hot liquids while your mouth is numb. Tea and coffee can contribute to staining over time but do not immediately undo professional cleaning.

Can I brush my teeth after dental cleaning?

In general, continue normal oral hygiene and brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste. If fluoride varnish or another topical treatment was applied, follow the specific brushing instructions provided by your dental team.

Is sensitivity normal after deep cleaning?

Yes. Temporary sensitivity and gum tenderness can occur after scaling and root planing. Seek dental advice if pain is severe or worsening or if you develop significant swelling or persistent bleeding.
